The Kalamazoo Singers is pleased to announce its 2008-2009 season!
The opening concert of our 2008-2009 season will be a pops concert in collboration with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and will feature Jeremy Koch & Denene Mulay Koch, the Kalamazoo Singers, and the Kalamazoo Childrens Chorus Touring Choir , Fred Sang, Music Director and Conductor. The concert will include selections from "South Pacific", "Big", "The Music Man", "Hairspray", and more! The concert will occur on Saturday, October 25, at 8:00 PM. This will be the first concert in the newly refurbished and remodeled Chenery Auditorium.
The second concert of our 2008-2009 season will be "Christmas at Nazareth". The concert will include Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols", featuring Lydia Cleaver, harp; and John Rutter's "Brother Heinrich's Christmas", featuring Garrard MacLeod, narrator; as well as favorite Christmas carols and other choral music of the season. The concert will occur on Tuesday, December 2, at 7:30 PM, in the Holy Family Chapel at Nazareth.
The third concert of our 2008-2009 season will be "An Homage to Haydn", a concert recognizing the contributions to choral music of Franz Josef Haydn (1732-1809) on the 200th anniversary of his death. The concert will occur on Sunday, April 26, at 3:00 PM, in the sanctuary at the Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church.
The closing concert of our 2008-2009 season, as it has been in many previous seasons, will be our annual "Concert in the Park". The Kalamazoo Singers has been honored to be the first group to perform on the "Concerts In The Park" summer concert series every year since the inception of the series in the Summer of 2000. The series, presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and the City of Kalamazoo, is generously funded by the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, and is held at the Kalamazoo Rotary Club Stage in Bronson Park. This season's concert will occur on Sunday, June 7, at 4:00 PM.
